Who we are

Ignite Generation is a registered charity in England and Wales (charity number 1218225), a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Our registered address is 5-8 Herringham Road, Charlton, London SE7 8NJ. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

If you contact us through this website we collect your name, email address, and anything else you choose to put in your message - including a phone number if you give one.

If you volunteer with us we collect the information needed to place and supervise you safely, which may include references and DBS check details.

If you give to us, your payment is handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To reply to you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests - you asked us a question and we are answering it.

To run volunteering and safeguarding properly. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, and for safeguarding information, substantial public interest.

To claim Gift Aid, where you have given us a declaration. Our lawful basis is legal obligation, because HMRC requires us to keep those records.

To send you updates, only where you have asked us to. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers to operate - website hosting, email delivery and payment processing - and they act only on our instructions.

Where volunteers serve in a prison or NHS setting, the host organisation runs its own vetting and holds that information under its own policies.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for up to two years. Gift Aid records are kept for seven years, as HMRC requires. Volunteer and safeguarding records are kept for as long as our safeguarding policy requires and then securely destroyed.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent where you gave it.

To exercise any of these, email contact@ignitegenerationuk.org. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
