Our commitment

Safeguarding

Everyone who comes to Ignite Generation has the right to be safe. That is not negotiable.

Our commitment

Ignite Generation is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk. Our trustees hold ultimate responsibility for safeguarding, and we follow the guidance issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

What we do in practice

  • All volunteers working with children or adults at risk complete a safeguarding induction and hold an appropriate DBS check before they begin.
  • Volunteers work in pairs or teams. Nobody works unsupervised with children or adults at risk.
  • In prison and hospital settings we work under the authority and policies of the host chaplaincy team, and complete their vetting in addition to ours.
  • Concerns are recorded, taken seriously, and escalated to statutory services where required. We do not investigate internally in place of the authorities.
